Dear Friends of North Weald

It has been a long wait since our collective activity, the Public Consultation and finally the Government's recommendation for the East of England long term development. The 131-page recommendation was announced on 12th May 2008 and can be found on the Go-East official web site.

In short, we are delighted to announce that the Report does not recommend that the suggested 6,000 houses with infrastructure be developed at North Weald.

This news means that our historic airfield has a 'stay of execution 'together with the retention of our greenbelt countryside all that is important to the Community and Friends of our Parish.

On behalf of the Community the Action Group would like to say a 'big thank you' to all who supported the campaign working tirelessly for the main goal. The best result possible would you not agree?

In recognition of this hard work and community spirit in achieving the only acceptable result BCAG are having a commemorative bench placed alongside the Village Sign being a reminder to all that a 'few' can make a difference.

It has been a privilege being Chairman working alongside a band of warriors second to none.
