East of England Plan
The Plan supports the development of 6,000 houses, plus a 25 hectare commercial development, plus a Park and Ride for Stansted and a high speed transport system linking Epping – North Weald – Harlow & Stansted throughout North Weald Bassett Parish.
North Weald Airfield
365 acres of greenbelt land (the proposed development) built 60 years ago, is an historic WW2 airfield steeped in history and is very active today flying historic and leisure aircraft. Light industry of various types offers considerable employment to local people. Supports the largest weekly market in the UK with as many as 25,000 visitors each week and a large variety of leisure pursuits all contained within its boundary. This unique airfield is owned by EFDC.
North Weald Airfield Users Group
North Weald Airfield Museum Association
Detached house built at the turn of the century. Acquisitioned by the government when the airfield was built and used as an administration centre by the RAF. For some years it was the HQ of the Air Cadet Training Corps and more recently, leased to the NWAMA by the District Council.
